Car and Driver magazine has selected the Porsche Taycan as its 2025 EV of the Year after evaluating 24 electric vehicles across handling, braking, acceleration, charging, range and technology. Editors scored each model in four categories: fun to drive, mission fulfillment, value, and technology application, and the Taycan emerged as the clear leader.
The Taycan range was tested in rear-wheel-drive sedan and Cross Turismo variants as well as the record-setting Taycan Turbo GT. Judges highlighted the optional active ride suspension, which took top marks in the technology category. They also praised the Taycan’s ability to deliver the definitive electric sports sedan experience and its engaging driving dynamics.
Timo Resch, CEO of Porsche Cars North America, said the award reflects the Taycan’s exceptional all-around performance and that Porsche will proudly display the accolade at its Atlanta headquarters. Car and Driver’s Editor-in-Chief Tony Quiroga added that from the entry-level Taycan to the 1,019-hp Turbo GT, Porsche’s electric sedan offers the same joy and precision as the company’s celebrated sports cars.
This recognition follows the Taycan’s back-to-back Performance EV of the Year awards from Road & Track and its new production EV lap record at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
